Day 1: Introduction to STATA and Data Management
- Course overview, importance of STATA, and key concepts in econometrics.
- Navigation: Command window, Do-file editor, data editor/viewer, and menus.
- Import data from Excel/CSV, understand variable types, and handle errors.
- Renaming, labelling variables, and creating new variables.
- Hands-on: Import and clean a sample dataset.
Day 2: Descriptive Statistics and Data Exploration
- Commands: summarize, tabulate, describe, and inspect.
- Creating histograms, scatter plots, and box plots (graph command).
- Detect and manage missing values (miss table command).
- Hands-on: Generate basic statistics and plots for a sample dataset.
Day 3 : Basic Analysis and Regression
- Calculate correlation coefficients and understand relationships (correlate).
- Basic regression analysis: regress command, interpretation of results.
- Save outputs: Export tables and regression results to Word/Excel.
- Hands-on: Run regression on sample data and interpret the output.
